On Friday 12th December 2014,  staff at County Insurance took part in Christmas Jumper Day and raised Staff at our Southport branch in their sweatersover £185 for Save the Children. Staff donated generously, contributing a minimum of £2 each to wear their brightly coloured festive knitwear to work.

Save the Children is a registered charity that works to support vulnerable children in the UK and abroad. Sadly, over 6.6 million children die each year before their 5th Birthday  as a result of easily treatable illnesses such as malnutrition, diarrhoea, malaria and pneumonia.

Here in the UK, around 3.5 million children are also living in poverty. Many families can’t afford essentials such as good quality food, heating and basic appliances such as a cooker. Due to this disadvantaged start in life, these children often don’t reach their full potential in later life.Staff at our Head Office in Crewe wearing their festive knitwear

With this money, Save the Children will be able to provide life saving treatment, antibiotics and other medicines.  For example, £1 could buy antibiotics to treat 3 babies with potentially deadly infections and £2 could buy 18 sachets of oral rehydration fluid to treat children with life-threatening diarrhoea.

We hope that our donation makes a difference!
