Nantwich Town FC have teamed up with local school Malbank School & Sixth Form College to announce the new joint venture of the Nantwich Football Academy

This exciting new joint venture will start in September and will give talented footballers of 16 years the opportunity to gain a BTEC Diploma in Sport at Malbank Sixth Form whilst still being coached at Nantwich Town and play in competitive games in the English Colleges League. The boys will also have a great opportunity of representing Nantwich Town FC in the FA Youth Cup and play against both professional and semi-professional football clubs under the name of Nantwich Town.

Understandably both Malbank School and Nantwich Town are equally excited. Nantwich Town Chairman Jon Gold stated “The Academy cements our long term relationship with Malbank School and Sixth Form College and the local community”. He went on to say “ Malbank School has an outstanding reputation for educational provision and we have fantastic training and coaching facilities and a proven record for developing young players that progress to professional clubs such as Kelvin Mellor.

The Academy will be formally launched at an Open Evening at Nantwich Town FC on Thursday June 12th at 7pm. Parents and their sons will be given information on the structure of the BTEC Diploma in Sport, discover the content of the football and other sporting activities that are available. You also be given information on how the Malbank Sixth Form college timetable will work .Successful boys will be selected based on ability following a trial game on Nantwich Town’s 3G pitch and interview with the club and Malbank School & Sixth Form College.

This great opportunity will be classed as full time education with them being able to achieve a BTEC Diploma, which helps to earn entry into University if desired while also getting the exposure to the world of football.

The delighted Jeannette Walker added “This is an outstanding opportunity, one that we are delighted to be a partner in”. She also stated that she was looking forward to expanding the Academy in future years.

As official shirt sponsors of Nantwich Town FC we at County Insurance are equally excited by this venture and hope to see players from this Academy playing for Nantwich Town in the coming season or two.
