Long standing County employee enjoys retirement gift

In December 2015, one of our longest standing employees retired after 50 years in insurance. John Lawson, was the original owner of Heath and Blackshaw Insurance which was established in 1882. Heath and Blackshaw was then bought and taken over by our current CEO, Dave Clapp in 2003. Once Dave had purchased Heath and Blackshaw, John continued to work for us and fulfilled customers’ expectations by providing them with an impeccable service, showing off his level of experience in the insurance industry.

When John retired from The County Group, it was an emotional day full of laughs and tears, but we all decided to chip in together to get him a present which we knew he would appreciate.

We treated John and his wife, Sandra, to a stay in Tre-Ysgawen Hall in Anglesey, which they recently visited. During their stay, John wrote us all here at The County Group a letter of thanks letting us know they were having a good time and what they had been up to on their trip.

Since retiring, John spends his time being the Chairman for the RNLI group in Congleton, a charity who are dedicated to saving lives at sea, yet sadly doesn’t receive any government funding. In April, we held a “Wear your Wellies” to work day to help raise money for this fantastic cause, which was organised with the help of John and his expertise.

We are extremely happy that John was able to make the most of his stay in Anglesey and we wish him all the best.
