The team at County Insurance had another successful RNLI fund-raising day on Friday 25th January. All of the staff took part by paying to “dress down” at work for the day (in nautical-themed clothes!). There were also cakes on sale, lifeboat station games and a raffle.
Showing extra support for the charity, our Managing Director Dave Clapp also pledged £5 for every new business policy sold during the SOS day. It was a busy day sales-wise so this helped to bump up the donation to £329.47!
John Lawson, one of County Insurance’s longest-serving members of staff, organised the day’s events as RNLI’s Congleton Branch Chairman. John commented:
“The national SOS day helps to raise money for the RNLI, who rely entirely on voluntary contributions, legacies and donations and receive no funding from the government. The annual cost to run the RNLI is a staggering £140 million a year.”
“The money we have raised today will go towards helping to fund Hoylake Lifeboat Station (our nearest all-weather lifeboat) for 1 week. On behalf of the RNLI, I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone for their generosity, especially Dave.”
Dave Clapp added: “Everyone at County Insurance enjoys the RNLI SOS day and we’re really happy to support such an important organisation, which has saved more than 140,000 lives since being founded in 1824.”
